Presidents Message

Welcome to a new year at Delaware Valley ICRI. Having been a member of this chapter for over 14 years, I could not be more honored to be serving as your president.  With help from some new and experienced board of directors I know this chapter will grow and prosper in many ways this year.

We are already off to a great new start with the launch of our new website.    I am sure you will notice a new streamlined look and find it much easier to navigate. Finally, after many requests from our members you can now register for chapter meetings on the website with the use of PayPal.

Also, check out our project profile section. If you are a member and have a project that you would like to share on the website please contact us and we will gladly showcase it for you. All we need is a statement about the project challenge and the solution you provided along with a few representative photos.

One of my biggest goals this year is to show our membership how ICRI Delaware Valley can help you locally.  The ICRI mission statement states-

The mission of the International Concrete Repair Institute is to be a leading resource for education and information to improve the quality of repair, restoration, and protection of concrete and other structures in accordance with consensus criteria.

With this ideology in mind, please join us March 4th for the Philadelphia façade symposium.   This all day event will allow you to network with regional contractors, vendors, property managers as well as engineers and architects.  Attend AIA accredited classes on façade repair technologies and interact with our expert panel as they show a presentation that will help you better understand the newly issued building façade ordinance.  This is an event you don’t want to miss!

We are currently booking three more educational dinner meetings that will be held April, October and November.  Topics and locations of these meeting will be posted on our website in the next few weeks.

Back by popular demand we are going to have our 4th annual Phillies tailgate party.  Join us at Citizens Ballpark Wednesday May 4th for America’s favorite pastime of fun, food and drinks as the Phillies play the Washington Nationals.  Tickets are limited so sign up now before it is too late.   September 23rd will be the date of our Bill Burris Memorial golf outing.  We will be changing the location of the outing this year but please mark your calendar for the event.

As I told the board of directors at our first meeting, ICRI has allowed me to learn and network with top professional in the concrete repair and restoration market. I can only hope it will benefit you as it has for me. Please remember this organization is run by the membership and if any member has an idea for a presentation or event please don’t hesitate to contact myself or any board member with your suggestions or ideas.  I look forward to seeing you all at our upcoming events.

Holy Angels Facade Restoration

Project Challenge:
When a 500-pound cornice element fell approximately 40 feet to the sidewalk after an extremely harsh winter of heavy rains, snow and several freeze-thaw cycles, the church looked to Klein and Hoffman (K&H) to stabilize the north facade and return this stone masonry landmark back to its status as the cornerstone of the local community.
